Transfer of your personal information to third parties
Spielwarenmesse eG will forward your personal data to third parties to the extent necessary to process your orders, organise your visit to or participation in the trade fair, and invoice services.
If data is passed on to service providers in the course of order processing, they are also bound by the GDPR, other legal regulations and contractually by the guidelines of Spielwarenmesse eG.
You decide on a voluntary basis whether and which additional services you would like to use and which data you provide to us for transmission.
Further information – such as voluntarily provided details of areas of interest – will not be passed on to third parties by Spielwarenmesse eG.
The following applies to visitors to events organised by Spielwarenmesse eG, including online events or events that are held as a combination of in-person and online events:
Spielwarenmesse eG will only forward data from trade visitors to exhibitors, associations or third parties under the following conditions:
- the trade visitor has actively consented to the transfer of their data to exhibitors, associations or third-party companies and, where necessary, has given the required consent,
- in the event of a possible transfer of data to exhibitors, associations or third-party companies based abroad, we will also check whether data protection standards comparable to those in the UK exist in the data recipient's home country. Otherwise, the recipient of the data undertakes contractually to Spielwarenmesse eG to comply with the relevant data protection standards on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC). Spielwarenmesse eG will also regularly review these standards, especially if there are significant doubts about the enforceability of the SCC due to government regulations in the data recipient's home country. The principle of the place of data collection and thus responsibility for this data collection applies.
Insofar as Spielwarenmesse eG is obliged to do so by law or court order, it will transfer your data to the extent required to authorities entitled to receive such information. Spielwarenmesse eG will not disclose your data to third parties for other purposes without your express consent.
Our representatives and service partners in Germany and abroad are contractually obliged to fully implement the relevant regulations and guidelines on data protection and data security. Spielwarenmesse eG regularly checks compliance with this obligation.

- by faxing printed registration forms
- by participating in competitions

Encryption methods are used to ensure the secure transmission of the data you provide. This means that communication between your browser and our online systems and ordering systems cannot be read by other participants on the internet.
Occasionally, however, Spielwarenmesse eG may receive your personal data from third parties. This includes, for example, the transmission of your data by associations, exhibitors, foreign representatives, chambers of industry and commerce, or the communication of personal data by commercial address brokers. We only use data for which you have given your consent to these third parties for further use of your data for the purpose of electronic and telephone contact.

Provision of services, order processing, personalisation of admission tickets, delivery of information from Spielwarenmesse eG.
When ordering personalised admission tickets for third parties, we assume that you are authorised to pass on the necessary information for trade visitor verification and the above-mentioned purposes.
By using our online registration and ordering system, we receive the data necessary to process your order and provide the services you have booked.
Mandatory data fields used to collect necessary data are always marked separately with an asterisk.
The cookies set in the Online Service Centre are all used for the purpose of using the Online Service Centre and are therefore essential for the proper use of the OSC.
The legal bases for processing are:
- Contract or contract initiation (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b)
- Protection of the legitimate interests of the controller or the third party (Art. 6 (1) (f))
Special conditions for the use of video conferencing tools
As part of the events organised by Spielwarenmesse eG, you will be offered the opportunity to participate in video conferences. To participate, your first name, last name and email address are usually required. It cannot be ruled out that your IP address may be tracked, albeit anonymously. Depending on the manufacturer, inline chats and recordings are offered within the video conferencing systems, which, depending on the type of chat/video call, may also record your statements/video image. If you do not want this, you have the following options:
- Do not participate in the video conference.
- If you do not want to be seen, please participate without video.
- If you do not want to be heard, please participate without audio as a pure listener.
- Do not write in the chat if you want your participation to remain anonymous.
- Prohibit the organiser from recording immediately after the event starts. The organiser may then ask you to leave the video conference and participate at an alternative date.
The video conference is initiated either by Spielwarenmesse eG or individually by the exhibitors. If the exhibitor operates or uses its own video conferencing system, it is obliged to obtain your consent for the recording of video and chat.
If the video conference is operated by Spielwarenmesse eG, the Zoom video conferencing system is currently used. Spielwarenmesse will only transfer the first name, surname and email address to Zoom for the purpose of handling the video conference. Under no circumstances will video and chat be recorded, unless it is a webinar in which only the speakers are identifiable and you as a user cannot be re-identified.
Use is based on Zoom's privacy policy (ZOOM'S PRIVACY POLICY) and the following legal basis:
European Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC)5, signed by the provider in accordance with Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR.
Zoom undertakes to comply with European data protection standards and to store personal data only where this level of data protection is undoubtedly guaranteed.
Necessity of data transfer for the performance of the contract:
Data transfer to a third country is permitted for the performance of a contract or at the request of the data subject for the implementation of pre-contractual measures without appropriate safeguards or an adequacy decision in accordance with Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR. The transfer of personal data is essential here and, in accordance with the above explanation, can also be expected by you.
Purpose limitation of the video conference
By registering and participating in a video conference, you have consented to the use of your data for the purpose of conducting the video conference. This also includes the sending of various administrative emails tailored to the video conference and documents relevant to the video conference, such as the presentations used in the video conference. Other purposes of use are not permitted; the issuer must obtain your consent for this.
Use of MS Teams
Spielwarenmesse uses MS Teams to conduct internal and external video conferences and workshops. Participants in these conferences include Spielwarenmesse employees, business partners, exhibitors and service providers.
In MS Teams, Microsoft processes personal data to provide the agreed services as defined in the Microsoft Online Services Terms of Use.
MS Teams is cloud-based and processes various types of personal data, the use of which depends, among other things, on the provision of the Spielwarenmesse as the data protection controller:
For further details, please refer to the privacy policy for MS Teams: https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/microsoftteams/teams-privacy

If you would like to subscribe to one of the newsletters offered on our websites, we need your email address and information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. By providing additional data during the newsletter registration process – such as your first name, surname, company, country, language, industry and interests – you agree that Spielwarenmesse eG may regularly send you information relating to this data by email.
We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.
You can revoke your consent to the storage of your data, email address and its use for sending the newsletter at any time. You can revoke your consent via a link in the newsletters themselves, in your profile area or by sending a message to datenschutz(at)spielwarenmesse.de.
The use of cookies
During an online session, text information is collected in cookies and stored in a special file in ASCII format (cookie.txt) on the user's hard drive.
The user's web browser controls where the cookie is stored on the user's computer.
Cookies are pieces of information that are sent back to the server during the next online visit. They can only be read by the server that previously stored them.
Spielwarenmesse eG and its service providers only use cookies for essential user functions, to facilitate navigation of the websites and for statistical marketing surveys.
With the cookie consent banner, you can choose which cookies you want to store on your system at any time. Once you have made your selection, you can restrict or expand it at any time. To do so, please use the information on the website.
You cannot deselect essential user functions that are controlled by cookies, as this would significantly restrict the usability of the website. In this case, you will either not be able to use the website at all or only to a very limited extent.
The information will not be made available to any other third parties, as cookies are only used for the above-mentioned purposes.
Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. However, this function can be deactivated in the browser at any time. You can set your browser to notify you as soon as cookies are sent.
When you visit our website to browse, read or download information, we collect and store some "visitor information" about you, such as a unique ID, the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet, your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, the date and time you access the website, and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our website. We use this information to record visits to our websites and to recognise visitors. This helps us to make our websites even more useful . We delete this information after the period specified in the cookie overview.
Information on the use of Matomo

The statistics obtained enable us to improve our offering and make it more interesting for you as a user. Matomo is hosted as an independent analysis service on the servers of Spielwarenmesse eG.
This data can be used to create usage profiles under a pseudonym. Cookies are used for this purpose. The data collected using web analysis technologies will not be used to personally identify visitors to this website without the express consent of the person concerned and will not be merged with personal data about the bearer of the pseudonym. The collection and storage of data by etracker can be revoked at any time with future effect. The collection and storage of data by Spielwarenmesse eG Matomo is essential for the fulfilment of the contract and for improving the service.
Other active content such as JavaScript, ActiveX
Javascript, ActiveX or other control elements and script languages that contain executable elements can be deactivated at any time via your browser for security reasons. Our websites remain navigable even without Javascript.
Social media
Some social media icons merely contain links to Spielwarenmesse eG's presence on these platforms, without any data being transferred when they are activated. If we would like to show you content from social media (Instagram, Facebook) and this could result in data being collected from the social media platforms, we will ask for your consent in advance (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). For this purpose, we use the above-mentioned Usercentrics Consent Management Platform, which allows you to find out about cookies and, if you wish, revoke your consent at any time.
YouTube
Various pages of Spielwarenmesse eG contain so-called embeds of videos on YouTube. This only enables the connection to YouTube. YouTube is a service provided by Google Inc. (Our contractual partner is: Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). For information on the purpose and scope of data collection and use by Google, as well as your rights and settings options for protection as a YouTube customer, please refer to YouTube's privacy policy.
On our website, we use the analysis and conversion tracking technology of the LinkedIn platform, a service provided by LinkedIn Ireland, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2 (Ireland). The aforementioned technology from LinkedIn allows us to display more relevant advertising based on your interests . We also receive aggregated and anonymous reports from LinkedIn on advertising activities and information about how you interact with our website.
LinkedIn uses cookies for this purpose. These cookies are used to uniquely identify a web browser on a specific computer, are valid for 30 days, do not contain any personal data and are therefore not used to personally identify our website users. The cookie is used to analyse how you interact with our website (e.g. which website you came to us from, how long you stayed, which offers you were interested in) and whether or not you are a member of the LinkedIn platform. The information collected using the cookie is used to compile the aforementioned anonymous statistics and reports and to display advertising based on your interests.
Further information on data protection at LinkedIn can be found here. Regardless of whether you are a registered member of the LinkedIn platform or not, you can object to the analysis of your usage behaviour by LinkedIn and the display of interest-based recommendations ("opt-out"); To do so, click on the "Opt out on LinkedIn" button (for LinkedIn members) or "Opt out" button (for other users) at the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out
Please note that rejecting such advertising does not remove ads from the pages you visit. It simply means that the ads you see are not necessarily tailored to your personal interests.
Use of Facebook remarketing and custom audience
Remarketing tags from the social network Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland, are integrated into our pages. When you visit our pages, the remarketing tags establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. This provides Facebook with the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. This allows Facebook to associate your visit to our pages with your user account. We can use the information obtained in this way to display Facebook ads. We would like to point out that, as the provider of the pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or its use by Facebook. For more information, please see Facebook's privacy policy.
Use of conversion tracking
With your consent, we use the "visitor action pixel" from Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland ("Facebook") on our website. This helps us track the actions of users after they have seen or clicked on a Facebook advertisement. This allows us to measure the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, meaning we do not see the personal data of individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook, which we inform you about to the best of our knowledge. Facebook may link this data to your Facebook account and also use it for its own advertising purposes in accordance with Facebook's data use policy. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place advertisements on and outside of Facebook. A cookie may also be stored on your computer for these purposes. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer, you can refuse to accept cookies in your browser settings.
Our websites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google").
For users who are resident in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, Google Ireland Limited is the controller responsible for your data, unless otherwise specified in the privacy policy of a particular service. Google Ireland Limited is therefore the Google affiliate responsible for processing your data and complying with applicable data protection laws.
Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of these websites is usually transferred to a Google server and stored there. However, if IP anonymisation is activated on our websites, your IP address will be truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. On behalf of the operator of these websites, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the websites, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser software; however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available here.
We would like to point out that on these websites, Google Analytics has been extended by the code "anonymizeIp" to ensure anonymous collection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking).
As a Google Ads customer, we use Google Conversion Tracking, an analysis service provided by Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). Google Ads places a cookie on your computer ("conversion cookie") if you have reached one of our websites via a Google ad. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If you visit certain pages on our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognise that someone has clicked on the ad and been redirected to our site. Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be tracked across the websites of Google Ads customers. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for Google Ads customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Google Ads customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse the setting of a cookie required for this purpose – for example, by means of a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies. You can also deactivate cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain "googleadservices.com". Alternatively, you can make the appropriate setting in the cookie consent banner.
We also use Google AdSense, a web advertising service provided by Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google") to place advertisements (text ads, banners, etc.). In doing so, your browser may store a cookie sent by Google or third parties. The information stored in the cookie may be recorded, collected and evaluated by Google or third parties. In addition, Google Adsense also uses small invisible graphics to collect information, which can be used to record, collect and evaluate simple actions such as visitor traffic on the website. The information generated by the cookie and/or graphics about your use of this website is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google uses the information obtained in this way to evaluate your usage behaviour with regard to AdSense advertisements. Google may also transfer this information to third parties if required by law or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You can prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive and the aforementioned graphics from being displayed. As with the other cookies described, you must deactivate the acceptance of cookies in your browser settings.
We use the remarketing technology of Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). This technology allows users who have already visited our website and online services and are interested in the offer to be targeted again with targeted advertising on the pages of the Google Partner Network. The advertising is displayed using cookies, which are small text files stored on the user's computer. With the help of these text files, user behaviour when visiting the website can be analysed and then used for targeted product recommendations and interest-based advertising.
If you do not wish to receive interest-based advertising, you can deactivate the use of cookies by Google for this purpose by visiting this page. Alternatively, users can deactivate the use of third-party cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative's deactivation page.
By using our services, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. Please note that Google has its own privacy policy, which is independent of ours. We accept no responsibility or liability for these policies and procedures. Please review Google's privacy policy before using our website.
We also use Google Maps to display geographical maps, search for and display addresses, and navigate (route planning) from your location to fixed locations such as exhibition or conference venues. Google Maps sets a so-called NID cookie and stores an individual user ID there. You can prevent the use of Google Maps by deactivating the service in User Centrics.
Google Maps is a service provided by Google Ireland, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google").
Bing, Seznam, Yandex
As an advertising customer, we use conversion tracking from the search engines Bing (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Attn: Data Protection Officer, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Telephone: +353 1 706 3117).
Seznam (Seznam.cz, a.s., Radlická 3294/10, 150 00, Prague 5, Czech Republic)
Yandex (Yandex Oy, Moreenikatu 6, 04600 Mantsala, Finland).
A cookie is placed on your computer ("conversion cookie") if you have accessed one of our websites via an advertisement. The information provided under "Google Conversion Tracking" applies accordingly.
If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process of these search engines, you can also refuse the setting of a cookie required for this purpose – for example, by means of a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies.
By using our services, you consent to the processing of data about you by these search engines in the manner and for the purposes set out above. Please note that these search engines have their own privacy policies, which are independent of ours. We accept no responsibility or liability for these policies and practices. Please check the privacy policies of the search engines before using our website:
Bing privacy policy

Yumpu
On our websites, we occasionally use the Yumpu tool from i-Magazine AG, Gewerbestrasse 3, 9444 Diepoldsau, Switzerland, to offer you browsable catalogues, brochures or similar formats.
Usercentrics
We use a consent management platform from Usercentrics GmbH in Munich for our websites, which allows you to control which cookies are stored on your system. The following categories are distinguished:
Essential These cookies are essential for the operation of the website. This includes Usercentrics, among others. You cannot use the website if you do not agree to the storage of these cookies.
Functional These cookies serve to make the functions of the website more convenient or to enable certain services to be performed, for example, to watch YouTube videos.
Marketing These cookies are used for marketing purposes to analyse user behaviour and, for example, to improve the information offered on the website.
You can accept the cookies listed under Functional and Marketing, whereupon they will be stored on your system. However, you can object to their use at any time by preventing them from being stored. To do so, click on the pencil icon on the website.
Special notes on the use of surveys
In order to optimise our services, we invite you to participate in target group-specific surveys at irregular intervals. We use the survey tool from easyfeedback GmbH to conduct the surveys. Participation in the surveys is voluntary and always anonymous. For specific questions, we give you the option of providing your contact details. It is your decision whether to provide these and make them available to us along with your answers.
A technical cookie is set for each survey. This is necessary to prevent multiple participation by means of a cookie block.
The session ID and member ID are stored in your local storage. These are pseudonymised and cannot be traced back to a specific person unless personal data has been requested or the survey link has been personalised.
Chatbot
Scope and type of data processing
Our chatbot processes the personal data that is entered. You can use the chatbot without entering your personal data.
However, we must collect certain personal data to ensure the functionality of the chatbot:
- Time and date of your enquiry
- Content of your enquiry
You are free to choose the content of your enquiry – please do not enter any personal or sensitive personal information in the free text field (name, address, payment details, etc.). Please note that all data you provide will also be processed by our chatbot.
The legal basis for processing by the chatbot is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Spielwarenmesse eG has a legitimate interest in offering you a chatbot to improve your user experience. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the software operator in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, which regulates how and for what purposes data may be processed.
As the use of the chatbot is voluntary, we assume that when you use it, the processing of the chatbot to answer your questions is also in your interest. It is therefore not apparent that your rights are restricted by the processing of the chatbot.
We evaluate data for statistical purposes in order to measure demand, analyse chat histories, improve the quality of the chatbot's responses and troubleshoot errors. Therefore, we have no way of assigning this data to a specific person. This data is not merged with other data sources. We do not store any other personal data in connection with the use of the chatbot.
The data is not passed on to third parties or evaluated in any other way, unless there is a legal obligation to do so (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR).
All collected data will be deleted after 30 days at the latest.
Log and statistical data
Each time our chatbot is accessed, the dialogues are stored in a log file. They are used exclusively for the purpose of improving the dialogues and for error analysis and are not passed on to third parties. The data does not allow the chat users to be identified.
Security
Your questions and analysis data are transmitted securely to the chatbot using SSL encryption (transport encryption). Access to the chatbot's systems is protected by firewalls that prevent unauthorised external access.
Our systems are located on the servers of Hetzner Online GmbH, Gunzenhausen, Germany.
Hyperlinks to external websites
The chatbot may contain hyperlinks to landing pages and websites of other providers. In these cases, you will be redirected from the website operator's website directly to the website of another provider. You can recognise this by the change in the URL, among other things. After the change, we cannot assume any responsibility for the confidential handling of your data, as we have no influence on whether these public or non-public bodies comply with data protection regulations. Please refer to the websites of these public or non-public bodies for information on how they handle your personal data.
