The starting signal for Spielwarenmesse 2023 – PressPreview with much new content

  • Some 50 well-known exhibitors and startups present their highlights
  • Presentation of ToyAward at the event for the first time

On 31 January the PressPreview marks the start of the Spielwarenmesse in the traditional way. In this concentrated innovations show, well-known exhibitors, brands and startups present their product ideas to representatives of the national and international media with plenty of action, in the NCC Ost at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. For the first time, this kick-off event includes presentation of the ToyAward. It is rounded off by the ToyCocktail competition and a collective lunch.

At 8:55 am a rousing marching band, under the direction of professional musician Roland Peil, heralds the start of the event with drums and trumpets at the head of a parade of walking acts, models and celebrities. Some 50 manufacturers will then present their new products and invite people to try them out, on stands set up specifically for the PressPreview. This year, particular emphasis will be given to the Startup Area. “With this new feature we are seeking to promote young businesses in the sector and their innovative approaches,” explains Christian Ulrich, Spokesperson of the Executive Board at Spielwarenmesse eG. Companies including Flops from Norway, Eos Trade from Israel and Gobrick from South Korea will be involved.

In addition, industry giants such as Bruder, Jazwares, Kosmos, Playmobil, Ravensburger, Simba, Toynamics and Trefl will be providing entertainment at their stands. From 9 am. onwards, designer Princess Maja of Hohenzollern will be gracing the stand of Princess Fashion with her stuffed animals and jewels from the ‘Princess Heart Collection’. From 9:30 am on the stand of the Three Sixty Group, TV host Steven Gätjen will be presenting the new laser-tag product, the ‘Sharper Image Laser Handtank Collection’. Johnny the Toy Soldier from FAO Schwarz will also be here for photos. Schmidt Spiele will be introducing its new product, ‘Café Del Gatto’, from 10 am with model Barbara Meier. Culinary delights – in the form of cupcakes – will be available, too, at Topbright. In addition, the ToyTrends ‘Discover!’, ‘Brands for Fans’ and ‘MetaToys’ will be brought to life with examples of products. And on the Model Railways shared stand, Faller, Märklin, Noch and Viessmann will be in attendance.

Presentation of the ToyAward is another highlight. At the heart of the event on the stage in the NCC Ost, outstanding product ideas in six categories will receive the international expert jury’s awards. This awards ceremony, which will also be streamed live on Spielwarenmesse Digital, takes place at 12 o’clock. The holding of the ToyCocktail competition is another new feature. Here, various bars from the region will be mixing their own delicious creations, from which a winner will be selected. For the first time, the PressPreview will be rounded off with the BusinessLunch, strengthening networking opportunities between media representatives and exhibitors while encouraging communication and discussion.
